​At first glance, the ’07 line is reminiscent of the “ Pullmann “ style travel bags of old, that is, the opening of the bag pulls up to reveal a cavernous interior. Reinforced with carbon fiber rods, the PressTop pening opens provides extremely easy access to the bags’ interior, and creates an extra-wide rectangular opening. This keeps the bag in the open position, and yet closes quickly and securely when desired.

A models feature a two piece lid design, with a central, double layered waterproof seam. This creates a more contoured design which wraps over the ends of the bag to provide even greater protection against the elements. As with all Billingham bags, there are actually three layers of material comprising the finished look: a front and rear panel of canvas, with a complete layer of polypropylene sandwiched in between. This inner layer is permanently affixed between the two layers of canvas and provides a virtually waterproof exterior to the bags.

This line is great for taller lenses, and can certainly fit a camera with lens attached, facing towards the bottom of the bag. Two large front “ dump “ pockets are ideal for batteries, cords, memory devices, accessories, etc, while two large interior padded pockets can hold more fragile items, such as filters, memory cards, etc. A full length zip pocket, located on the rear of the bag can easily fit an e-reader, paperback, passport, or notepad. An interior grab handle makes it easy to move quickly when the situation demands without closing the main front flap. A removable hard bottom is a standard feature, as are solid brass protective feet, to keep the bottom of the bag from getting scuffed.

The top grain leather front closure straps feature the Billingham Quick Release system, where cut-outs in the straps engage solid brass “ clog-balls “ to provide fast opening as well as positive and secure closure. Another new modification in this line is that the ends of the leather pulls tabs are widened at the bottom, which allows for a firmer grasp, especially handy when working in situations where you need to get-up-and-go quickly, or when wearing gloves. Specially designed “ D “ holes, two sets on front and back are provided as strong mounting points for accessory Billingham tripod straps as well as the backpack harness.
