ewa marine housings have been used in tropical rain forests, to film white water rafting and surf competitions, used by various fish and wildlife agencies around the world, and offer total protection against sand, mud, snow, and just about anything else that can get into today’s sensitive digital components. Ewa housings are ideal for sterile environments, and protect against gasses and vapors, as well as high humidity and in “ clean room environments.

The heart of the ewa system is the glass port in front of the housing or cape. Manufactured from optical glass, case hardened, and color neutral, this insures that you are using only the high-end optics of your camera, and not shooting through plexiglass or an inferior front port material. This also means that light and color transmission is exactly what the camera sees, and not a distorted image. The housing/cape is manufactured from a double laminated PVC material, and all seams are welded using a heat and pressure technique to insure a strong bond to protect valuable equipment. Housings insure against the ingress of water to a depth of 5 meters. DSLR housings provide up to 10 meters of protection. In addition, DSLR housings are available with a lensport size of 82 mm, for greater light gathering ability. Specialty DSLR models feature a built in glove, used to manually zoom/focus manual lenses.

A contoured closure rail firmly clamps the PVC material together, and there is no need for further “ waterproofing “ such as the use of silicon or other water inhibitors. The use of multiple silicon packets, or ewa-marine ‘ moisture-munchers ‘ is recommended at all times, even above water, as humidity can build up in the sealed housing.



Hi visibility carry-straps can also accommodate ewa-marine dive weights, to help adjust for buoyancy.
